The Gapforce family places a great deal of emphasis on safety. Travel is never risk free. However our aim is to reduce the level of risk compared to that experienced when travelling alone.
We abide by the governing guidelines of the:
Year Out Group (YOG)
Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO)
Youth Explorers Trust (YET)
Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority (AALA)
Expedition Providers Association (EPA)
BSi8848 - Specifications For The Provision Of Visits, Fieldwork, Expeditions and Adventurous Activities, Outside the United Kingdom - by self assessment.
A key safety tool is prevention rather than cure. This is why we hold briefing days prior to departure. These are open to everyone. We cover first aid, clothing, visas plus give you more details about the country you will be visiting. Quite often returning travellers will also attend to give you the low down on what to expect.
While you are travelling, most countries have Gapforce ground staff operating locally. They provide Welcome and Safety briefings for when you first arrive. They remain available in case of emergency should you require additional support. Satellite telephones and our detailed communications strategy ensures all our ground staff are in 24-7 contact with Gapforce HQ. This means that urgent messages can be easily relayed between the UK and our projects.
